Episode 15 Where Do The Mermaids Go?
Oh Shirley Partridge! You're such a wonderful mother, always looking out for your family's best moral interest. If you're not saving whales or joining a workers strike against management, you're playing free shows for prisoners and women's rights groups. You truly are one in a million. Speaking of which, isn't it wild how that cool hippie girl who looks like Alex P. Keaton's mom (a young Meredith Baxter Birney - now just Baxter) gave you a million dollars? What's that you say? You gave it back? Oh Alex would not approve of that! Surely you could've put that money to good use? You could've added to the kids college funds and paid off your mortgage, AND you would still have had enough left over to buy that mink coat you've been eyeing. But no, Shirley Partridge is the kind of lady who sees past material possesions and wealth of the earthly variety. Shirley Partridge won't let a measley million dollars be the magnet that misdirects her family's moral compass. 28 dollars worth of tacos? A phone in Danny's room? A ten dollar dress for Laurie? I understand now why you thought that all that money was going to drive your family apart. Shirley you always know the right thing to do!
